We’ve started harvest at the Domaine de l’Arjolle and the Château de Margon on the 20^th of August by picking our first Sauvignon blanc. Mid September, all our grapes for the white wines are in, except the Chardonnay for the Dernière Cueillette and the Muscat for or late harvest cuvee Lyre. — Lire la suite.

Scientists now know exactly why polyphenols in red wine (mainly tannins and the red colour of the wine) and green tea inhibit cancer growth. This new discovery of French-Japanese research has been published online in The FASEB Journal in June. The article explains how antioxidants in red wine and green tea produce a combined effect to disrupt an important cell signalling pathway necessary for prostate cancer growth, labelled SphK1/S1P by the scientists. — Lire la suite.

The scientific reason for this phenomenon, well known by epicureans, has found its explanation. But what is it all about?
To describe the contradiction between the well-known French food and drinking habits and their state of health, food specialists and nutritionist use the expression “French Paradox”.
