One of my teachers made me pay attention to the world of wine for the first time at school, by making me memorize all AOC regions of France for lessons in geography.
My relation to wine became more serious and even professionnal while I was working in London in 2001. Since the beginning of autumn, the fruit and vegetable stall of our favourite organic farmer almost collapses under the weight of fresh pumpkins of all sizes and colours. This immediately inspires recipes like pumpkin soup, casserole or risotto, all very savoury and healthy. Today we would like to propose a recipe for pumpkin tarte tatin, a simple and very tasty alternative.
Serves 4 to 6 people

Meanwhile, we know quite a lot of restaurants within the region. All the greater is our joy when a new restaurant manages to charm our taste buds in a particular way. The always-colourful wines, made of ideally ripe, selected grapes, have attained an infrequent level of quality and regularity. Tannins are of seductive velvetiness, and ageing of the wines is done with skills and mastery.

I admit, the question seems somewhat exaggerated. There are other varieties at least equallyworthy of the title: Shavkapito from Georgia, Grüner Veltliner from Austria, Folle noir from Fronton. Sauvignon blanc (by the way Cabernet Sauvignon’s mother, after a volatile affair with Cabernet franc) has long been planted in the Loire and in the region of Bordeaux...

Already during picking the grapes gave us an insight into the high quality of the vintage. Not concerned by this summers heatwave, the fruit showed a good balance between sugar and acidity, as well as extremely ripe tannins. While the vintage was still considered as being particularly precocious in spring, some highly welcome rainfalls in August brought us back to normal picking times. It’s the most modest champagne of the winery. You may call him the basic wine, the entrance to the wine range, the little brother of the great wines ... Call whatever you want, it just doesn’t care with nothing to hide. It is like that. Sincere, open and honest. In France, an “evening with friends” often means a as much as “an evening in the restaurant”. This time it took us to “L’Authentic” a restaurant in Saint Christol, east of Montpellier. In his restaurant, which is part of the wine tourism complex VIAVINO, Jérôme Fanguin offers a semi-gastronomic Mediterranean cuisine.
