Open house at Domaine Pierre Cros in the Minervois in Mai this year. Cantal cheese, Truffade (a local dish made of mashed potatoes and cheese), Nebbiolo, Carignan and Syrah... Pictures from a good moment, with nice people, excellent food and lovely wines!

Its already a bit more than ten years ago and started with pain (even being sued by the French authorities and above all, accompanied by scornful laughter from the different associations of wine producers), that the Cuvee Les Mal Aimeés ( „The Unloved“) is being produced from old traditional grape varieties of the Languedoc, like Alicante, Aramon, Piquepoul noir, and Aspiran, all of them „forbidden fruits“.

“I like to invite people in my winery, who appreciate conviviality as much as a decent glass of wine. That’s why I asked some Oystercatchers from Sète in the Languedoc to join us with their seafood on the last weekend before Christmas.
Of course we matched the seafood with our rosé “Tradition” and our white “Les Costes” from 2011, which have already been bottled. And we had a look at the other wines as well, the reds from 2009 and 2010, including “Les Aspres” 2010.

Visit the cellar of Pierre Cros in the Minervois. He’s a real specialist of old grape varieties, but also loves highly concentrated Syrah and Grenache wines, partly aged in small oak barrels.
