This years harvesting at the Domaine Santa Duc started on September 27, and finished on October 14th. Some 20 pickers helped us in the vineyards. Outside temperatures were already quit fresh, when we brought in the last Grenache grapes from the “Hautes Garrigues”.
It was a great vintage again… Due to the Mistral winds and the sunny late season, we could leave the totally healthy grapes in the vineyards and wait for optimum ripeness. We only destemmed a small part of the harvest and put the grapes straight into the tank. As for years, we didn’t add any yeasts or sulphites.
First impressions ? Very balanced juices, tasty tannins, interesting acidities. Now we still have a couple of weeks to go in the cellar, before starting the ageing of the wines. Rendez-vous in January for our first evaluation of the vintage…
